As you undoubtedly know, the Spanish Peaks International Celtic Music Festival sadly concluded that we had to cancel our 2021 event. We have not been surprised by the collective loss felt both in the local community, and amongst the broader Celtic community in general. Reaction has unsurprisingly been mixed, ranging from anger to many have who expressed support of the decision. The Festival community feels this loss keenly.

While the collective sense of loss remains, La Veta entrepreneur, Emilé Dubia, has stepped in to fill a bit of that void. She has booked three of the artists who were scheduled for Festival weekend. Colorado favorites, guitarist Jon Sousa and fiddler Adam Agee, will perform at the La Veta Mercantile on Friday, September 17th. The concert begins at 7:00 pm, and will be followed by open session playing at 9:30 for all who bring their instruments. Tickets will be $20.
The following day, Saturday, September 18th, guitarist/song writer Patsy O’Brien, “Ireland’s best-kept musical secret,” will be performing across the street at Deerprint Wine. The performance begins at 4:00 pm, and will also to be followed by open session playing at 7:00. Tickets are $15, and Emilé is planning on a special Deerprint menu for that event.
Speaking of open session playing, we are already hearing “rumblings” of Colorado session players planning to make the trek to La Veta that weekend.
