Born in Cloghan, County Offaly, Ireland, into a deeply musical family, Máire Egan has built an international career as a celebrated Irish fiddler, singer, and performer. Raised on traditional Irish music, she began performing at a young age in sessions, hospitals, and nursing homes. Although she first played tenor banjo, mandolin, and bodhrán, she later took up the fiddle, learning entirely by ear and developing the spirited style that became her trademark. Máire went on to win several All-Ireland titles at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann.
In 1997, while living in Germany and managing an Irish pub, Máire was invited to join the international touring production of Riverdance as replacement fiddle player for Eileen Ivers, performing alongside her sister, accordionist Éilís Egan. After touring Australia, she relocated permanently to the United States.
Máire later joined Lord of the Dance and Celtic Tiger, touring throughout the United States, Canada, and South America for eight years, while also performing in the Las Vegas productions at The Venetian Resort Las Vegas.
Following the show’s closure, Máire co-founded the Irish female group The Birdies with fellow musicians Brenda Curtin, Éilís Egan, Michelle Mulhaire, and Cary Novotny. The group recorded two CDs and performed at major Irish festivals across the United States.
Máire has also performed with Tuskar Rock, house band at Raglan Road Irish Pub in Disney World, and spent 15 years as featured fiddler and singer with Sin É Rí at Nine Fine Irishmen.
Now based in Las Vegas, Máire performs regularly throughout the United States, including appearances at John D. McGurk’s Irish Pub, and collaborates with many respected Irish musicians on both sides of the Atlantic. Known for her warmth, authenticity, and deep connection to Ireland’s musical traditions, Máire continues to captivate audiences with performances rooted in Irish culture and storytelling.
