Calling All Fiddle Players

Happy New Year, fiddle aficionados,

If you recall, the virtual 2020 Spanish Peaks International Celtic Music Festival featured the debut performance of The Bow Tides, three wonderful fiddle players with a common background – all having played fiddle, at different times, for Gaelic Storm.  If you missed their debut, you can still see it here.

A year ago they collaborated on their first Fiddle Frenzy, a weekend of workshops for fiddlers.  Now, after continuing to evolve as a group in 2021, they’re returning for their second Fiddle Frenzy, from January 14th – 16th, 2022.

I will let Festival favorite, Jessie Burns, tell you the rest.

Here’s information on an incredible fiddle learning opportunity for fiddlers aged 8 and up, beginners of one year onwards through advanced players. It happens on-line January 14,15 and 16, 2022. Last year we were joined by over 100 participants from 5 countries and we can’t wait to do it all again. We lean primarily towards Celtic Fiddle and classes cover tune learning, ornaments, bowing, tone, composition, technique – and all things fiddle!

Our core instructors are Winifred Horan (New York), Jessie Burns (Boulder), Katie Grennan (Chicago) and Ellery Klein (Boston). 

We are absolutely delighted to be joined by three guest instructors and legendary fiddlers;

Chicago’s acclaimed Irish-American composer and player Liz Carroll.

Hailing from Ireland, sought after teacher and performer, Bríd Harper.

Last but not least, the firecracker of a fiddler – Shetland native, Catriona Macdonald.

 

What a treat it is to get to learn from all these incredible instructors, beaming right to you, in the comfort of your own home! Our mission is to bring some musical light in the darker months, create community, learn new skills and reactivate the joy of fiddling in a welcoming, nurturing environment. We’ve learned to make the most of great musical on-line opportunities and this internationally based instructor line up is exactly that!
